A recent structural strengthening project was for Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) at their Osborne Park facility. Completed in collaboration with Opra Projects in late 2024, this project involved an essential structural upgrade of a two-level commercial building.
Slabtec provided structural strengthening to the building’s central section, enabling the client to cut through the existing concrete slab safely.
This facilitated the creation of a new internal staircase, significantly enhancing building functionality and safety.
CFRP for Structural Strengthening
Effective structural strengthening demands precision and expertise. Our WA team meticulously chased 224 metres of concrete, creating rebates measuring 15mm x 15mm x 3500mm each to house 64 BC10 Rod. The minimal tolerances required for this task made precision a critical factor, ensuring the BC10 rods fitted seamlessly and maximising the effectiveness of the structural strengthening solution.
Using advanced equipment such as the Hilti DCH 150-SL wall chaser equipped with a laser module, our specialists achieved exceptional accuracy and alignment.
We successfully installed 217 metres of BC10 rod, meeting project timelines efficiently and without compromising quality.
Adhesion Testing for Structural Integrity
As part of our comprehensive approach to structural strengthening, Slabtec conducted rigorous adhesion testing to validate the concrete substrate’s capacity. Adhesion testing is essential to ensure CFRP laminates and fabrics’ long-term performance and reliability in structural strengthening applications.
Our expert technicians utilised Slabtec’s in-house adhesion testing equipment to verify compliance with Australian Standard AS1012.24, reinforcing our commitment to structural safety and industry best practices.
